Autism Therapy Workshop

Bulgarian children with autism will now receive better care and therapy after OneWorld Foundation contributed funds so the American expert in the field, Dr. Jake Greenspan, can visit Bulgaria on the initiative of our partner, I CAN TOO Foundation, and introduce one of the most effective methods of therapy for children with autism.

Dr. Greenspan carried out a workshop for local specialists from the WE CAN TOO Center for Children with Autism in the city of Plovdiv Bulgaria on the therapeutic method “The Greenspan Floortime Approach”. This approach was designed to address the emotional and cognitive needs of children on the autism spectrum. It was developed as an interactive learning system for the training and certification of professionals world-wide. Studies showed that the Floortime Approach increases emotional functioning, social interaction, engagement, and daily skills. It also provides children with the skills necessary to progress in school and in life and to be independent

Professionals can choose individual components to specialize in or can cover the complete certification. The training provides many examples of practical techniques, letting professionals acquire in-depth knowledge to help children on the autism spectrum redefine their potential. His first visit in Bulgaria will introduce the approach to the Bulgarian professionals who can later develop and acquire Floortime certification.  This will improve their work with children and create a Bulgarian network of autism therapy experts.
